‘Dust eater’ is the latest MU-X

THE 2023 Isuzu MU-X has received major design changes and we love it.

As a large SUV it has added and expanded the MU-X range with exciting few enhancements and I took the opportunity to inspect some of those changes- so maar editing there and subtracting some…

It comes with expanded 3.0-litre line-up, a dark Magnetite finish for the grille, bumpers, roof rails and side steps, so is the Onyx that gains new 20-inch machined alloys.

It made my ride and guests to the tourism attraction Haartebeespoort Dam in the Bokone Bophirima province, way too perfect, but the venue is a former glory of itself. An eye-sore too many as a result of dirty dam, etc…

Yes, it has lost its shine, finish & klaar.

Back to the SUV- it has what is called ‘privacy glass’ which is now standard across the line-up and there’s a new colour option called Norwegian Blue, which the carmaker refers to as “stunning”. Aha.

Interior improvements includes dark Magnetite garnishes for the door and instrument panel, matching the new exterior trim.

Leather seat upholstery is now standard across the range, as is electric adjustment for the front occupants, and the seats also have revised cushions aimed at improving comfort.

It also boast ESC stability control as well as Cruise Control, Trailer Sway Control, reverse camera, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control and seven airbags.

On the infotainment front, the LS comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen system with integrated CarPlay and Android Auto as well as WiFi and front and rear charging ports, 9.0-inch touchscreen system with eight speakers, a powered tailgate and an array of driver assist gizmos like Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Tyre Pressure Monitoring.

Specs also feature enhanced by standard front and rear parking sensors, auto-dimming rear view mirror as well as steering-mounted paddle shifters for the six-speed automatic gearbox.

And yes, we’re still talking about the enhanced SUV mense…

The 3.0-litre turbodiesel engine provide outputs of 140kW and 450Nm that was felt as we negotiated the hills and mountains as we approached Haarties, as it is known. As long as you don’t go full-throttle a full tank could take you a week, that’s how convenient it is- considering the latest fuel hike this week.

My guests also enjoyed the ambience as a result of spacious leg-room (7-seater), and a boot that can accommodate the entire Boks squad team as they prepare to defend their title in France days from now.

It looks like a ‘dust-eater’ quipped one of invited female guest, obviously in awe…

What also caught my attention is the added remote starting functionality allowing owners to pre-cool or pre-heat the cabin remotely using the vehicle’s key.

So, this is a challenge to its competitors to their up your game or…
