Emirates’ ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 themed A380 livery lands in SA ahead of WC

With only hours left before the much anticipated CWC 2019 in both England/Wales bowling off, Emirates decided to land the themed A380 livery at the OR Tambo International on Tuesday, after a whirlwind tour in various 19 destinations served by the A380 including; London Heathrow, Australia Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and Mumbai.

Fouad Caunhye, Regional Manager of Emirates Southern Africa, said, “It is a great tribute to the vibrant city of Johannesburg and a celebration of cricket to have this special aircraft visit us in the build-up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

South Africans are cricket lovers, and the much-anticipated sporting event will bring huge excitement to everyone. We wish all the teams the best of luck and look forward to a successful tournament.”

The airline will also be flying most of the national teams to the event as they get ready to compete for the trophy and title of world champions of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales.

Emirates has been a Global Partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2002 and is a sponsor for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Passengers travelling to the world cup with Emirates can enjoy hours of entertainment with the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, which offers up to 4,000 channels of on-demand audio and visual entertainment.

The tournament runs from 30 May to 14 July 2019, with teams competing from England, South Africa, Pakistan, India, West Indies, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
