CITY POWER is deeply saddened by the passing of influential Communicator, Portia Motsepe, who served as Acting Senior Manager in the Strategic Communications and Perception Management Department.
She passed away on Monday, 2 November 2026, following a short illness.
As a former journalist, Miss Portia joined a team of Communicators at City Power in 2024 from City of Joburg Group Communication, and, in the time she spent with the organisation, she made a significant contribution through her professionalism, dedication and depth of experience.
Her work acumen spoke for itself, earning her the responsibility of overseeing critical senior roles within the organisation, including building digital footprint, and communications programmes and processes.
She was a valued member of the City Power leadership team whose commitment and professional insight contributed meaningfully to City Power’s work which won multiple accolades from the industry.
Although her time with us was relatively short, the impact of her contribution and influence, especially to her colleagues, will not be forgotten.
Her passing is a profound loss, not only to the organisation but also to the media and communications industry, her colleagues who worked alongside her both here at City Power and CoJ Group Communication, and had the opportunity to experience her leadership, knowledge and commitment first-hand.
City Power extends its heartfelt condolences to Portia’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
