He’s turning 45 years’ with a series of celebrations throughout the country; the kind of honour he deserves for being behind the resurgence of deep music in the country.
He pops up the champagne with the ‘Kimberlians’ at the affluent joint Opium in Kimberley next Friday evening May 31.
According to the legend of deep house music, he will visit numerous venues to celebrate with the masses that have been loyal to him and his music.
“I’m ecstatic that I’ve reached this age to tell the tale; how it has been like since breaking into this industry. Doing what one’s enjoy brings joy and happiness and my age depicts that,” says the pint-sized one.
He continued:” Music rages in our genes. And this celebration is simply to acknowledge and thank my fans for being there for me throughout.”
Lets’ have fun, declared the Metro FM Saturday’s slot ‘Urban Beat’ host from 10pm to 1am.
According to the host and club owner, Kgomotso Modiragela he feels privileged for being considered to host one of ‘South Africa’s Son of the Soil’ when coming to the emancipation of house music.
“Vinny is a legend. He’s a master in his own right. He’s the brains behind what we’re celebrating in our country which is 20th of democracy in our country, and as such, I personally feel honoured that he will grace the club and have tons of fun as he celebrates his birthday.”
Vaal, Cape Town, Pietermaritzbug, Johannesburg and House 22 (Pta) are some of the areas he will visit.
From 1998 to 2014 Vinny has been producing what he coined “series of deep house compilation No 10” and (un)fortunately, pointed out that this will be his very last compilation because he has other musical projects to concentrate on.
No, I’m not quitting music, stressed the age defier.
“Yes, Christos will feature at some of my celebrations,” he responded after being asked if his legendary friend would accompany him.
The latter is the founding member of the ‘house-pot’ House of Africa.
This is a milestone I’d cherish for as long as I live, he said, accompanied by that usual well crafted chuckle.
He shares the decks with locals KG Smallz, ManDEEP, DukeSoul, Speedy V, Nu Soul, Zitto and Change.
