The competition is a once in a lifetime opportunity for local musicians, DJ’s, dancers and bands to perform at one of the Lil Wayne concerts in each city including Cape Town on 7 December 2011, Johannesburg on 9 and 10 December 2011 and Durban on 11 and 12 December 2011.
Pleasure Letsoalo, Managing Director of Canoc Productions would like to thank to all the musicians who supported this initiative which attracted an overwhelming number of entries. “It has been challenging to successfully execute this idea and we intend to improve on many aspects of the competition and grow this initiative that reached many musicians. We further hope that this platform has assisted concert-goers to design their own concert experience.”
KB And The Demolition Squad are the winners of the Johannesburg competition with Artistic Intelligence in second place, The Kingdom Fam in third place, Prototype in fourth place and TXCXA in fifth place. In Cape Town, Youngsta won followed by Kapital K, Ameen, Fonzo and lastly Rebel Entertainment. From Durban, the winners are Niche Fam with Team Aviation, Courtane Paul, Genesis Kingz and Prinston the runners up.
Canoc Productions promises that this initiative is the start of many more future competitions as they continue their never-ending commitment to uplift local talent. “Congratulations to the winners of this competition. May this opportunity assist you to catapult your career to the next level,” says Letsoalo who added, “We encourage all participants to keep at it and wish them all the best.”
Canoc Productions also announced the supporting acts for the local leg of the Lil Wayne “I Am Still Music” Tour. In Cape Town on 7 December, iScreamstix and Dope Jocks while in Johannesburg on 9 and 10 December and also in Durban on 11 and 12 December 2011 Ferdy Ferd and the Dope Jocks complete the line-up.
