Look elsewhere for players-Igesund told!

Gordon Igesund who will announce the team to face Zambia in the Cosafa next month, has been ordered to look elsewhere for players’.

PSL League and Nedbank Cup winners Amakhosi, has almost seven players in the squad and this could affect their performance as they prepare for new football season.

It is believed Bobby Motaung, Chiefs Football Manager told Igesund to consider other players’ but Chiefs.

According to Sowetanlive, Motaung said: “We had a meeting with Igesund a while ago, and we told him that we are not going to release any of our players for this tournament”, he said yesterday.

“But Cosafa competition is not as important as the World Cup and is not even on the Fifa calendar. Our players have just returned from energy-sapping African Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifier tournaments and we have pre-season preparations as well. If we continue using the same players for all the matches, what message are we sending to other players?”

Chiefs are expected to begin their training schedule in Italy, following the return of head coach Stuart Baxter from holidays.

As for Pirates, coach Roger De Sa, also hinted he won’t allow his players for the Zambia game, because they have a match against AC Leopards on the same weekend as the Cosafa fixtures.

Pirates’ has five players’ in the squad.
