This part of Manchester United engaging with fans across Africa, who are estimated to be around 30 million to celebrate the history created by one of the world’s celebrated teams.
Commercial Director for Manchester United, Richard Arnold commented that, the 19th League title was a special moment for everyone in the Manchester United family and the DHL Champ19ns Trophy Tour is our way of being able to share that historic achievement with our 333 million fans around the globe.
“The passion and fervour of United fans is famous around the world, and Africa is no different,” he said.
Last night at Montecasino, MTN who are the broadcast sponsor’s of the Premier League, hosted both the legends, who had their hands full as a result of huge Man U fans dressed in their famous team colours and defying the chilly weather. The occasion also resulted in the screening of the Manchester game.
Part of the package for fans include an opportunity to have their picture taken with the coveted trophy and club legends during various events including fan parties and in-store activity, across Africa.
Having visited Latin America, parts of Asia and not forgetting Manchester, the DHL Champ19ns Trophy Tour will be delivered to 27 destinations, including India, Turkey, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Africa and Norway.
The trophy will travel almost 48,000 miles giving fans across the globe the opportunity to celebrate the club’s prestigious 19 League titles.
Fortune, who looked fit and polite towards the fans, says this is part of him giving back to the people of SA.
“My role as the Ambassador would be to share the experience of having won this Cup for the past 19 year’s and we hope our boys will make it 20th,” says Fortune who plays for the Man U. reserve side and TV commentator for the club’s television.
He also poured with cold water talks that he might join Kaizer Chiefs.
“I don’t know where you got that from, bru,” he said grinning from ear to mouth.
