No spectators allowed at Bafana AFCON Qualifier against Ghana at FNB Stadium

This follows reports in the press that 1000 fans will be allowed to entertain and back Bafana.

According to Stadium Management SA CEO Bertie Grobbelaar, there will be no such.

“The disaster management act regulations applicable to Level 1, in terms of which no spectators are allowed to sporting events, are still in place,” he said.

He went further to clarify, no spectators will be allowed for this fixture, only players, officials and event operational staff and media approved by SAFA in terms of Government approved protocols.

Posed to Bertie, whether fans will be allowed back to stadium gradually in future, he said” we’re awaiting Gvt to issue regulations for stadia to comply when spectators are allowed back.

SMSA will ensure that the venues we manage are compliant when such regulations and protocols are announced”.

Bafana go into this game with heads up after winning three of their opening games, that makes them second position in the group.

Coach Molefi Ntseki, a teacher by profession, knows permutations will not be granted as his charges seek a clear win in the group and Ghana should be no obstacle tonight.

The recharged Bafana face Sudan away in their last two AFCON qualifiers.

Ntseki’s boss and SAFA President Dr Danny Jordaan has also piled pressure on him to qualify for next years’ tournament.

Dr Patrice Motsepe will debut at the game as CAF President, and first South African to ascend to the much contested seat on the African Continent.

The game kicks off from 6pm.
