Patrick Shai’s death should not be used as point-fingering crusade- family

Held at The Market Theater, Jozi, fans, fellow colleagues of Shai and Govt officials came to pay their last respect. Reports Sipho Maluka.

The wife of the late urged the public to stop pointing fingers at what Patrick did but for what he stood for.

“This whole thing is affecting my family, especially the children. My message is look at yourself and introspect then you will understand the pain were enduring, “she said.

MEC for sport & culture in Gauteng Mbali Hlophe and minister of arts, sports Nathi Mthethwa also lent their support to the family by delivering heart-warming speeches.

The veteran actor was found hanging in his garage home in Dobsonville, Soweto by his wife. He starred in Yizo Yizo, Soul City, Bophelo ke Semphego and Generations.

Known for his popular role as “Nkwesheng” the gender-based activist is one of the founding members of Free Film Makers of South Africa.

The (66) is survived by his wife and grand-children.

The burial will take place on Saturday.
