Defiant. The late Chris Hani will be remembered at the event.

This is because Popini Artistic Creations in collaboration with Ekurhuleni Metro present a cultural congress packed with cultural discussions, motivational talks, poetry, comedy and music by some of Ekurhuleni’s best artists and Hani’s name couldn’t be omitted.

The aim of the Cultural Connection concerts is to connect communities through the celebration of cultural diversity, and it aimed to be an annual event.

It happens at Ekurhuleni- Springs Theatre, Springs, on 24 April.

The Cultural Connection concert will be hosted by well-known actor and comedian Mabutho Kid Sithole.

Sithole, who spearheaded the concert, will be supported by trusted and renowned motivational speaker and mentor Dr David Molapo.

Story-teller, musician and actor Masoja Msiza, will present his expressions of cultural praise in the form of poetry.

Sister H” (Hilda Sethosa) a hard-working comic that continues to make waves in Ekurhuleni will share the stage  with Alex Kunene, another regular within big comedy festivals such as Soweto Comedy Festival, Blacks Only and Mzansi Fela.

Kunene does observational humour and is one of the respected comedians in the country.

The team will ensure that discussions are peppered with a sense of humour.

For a breather from all the talk and earnest discussions; musicians DaneMcMahon and the 40/40Band will make sure that all present are kept on their feet throughout the show.

This form of celebration is a fitting tribute to one of its fallen heroes Hani, who was also a resident of the East Rand and died at the height of South Africa’s fight for a free, democratic and united country.

“The combination of talent represents the society we all aspire to, where different cultures come together for the betterment of their community. There is victory when cultural diversity is unified,” says host and convener Kid Sithole.

The patrons attending the Cultural Connection Concert will also get a chance to showcase their knowledge of their different cultures and origins.
