Randshow to showcase how SANDF protects U…

Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga, spokesperson for the SANDF, said they were delighted at the opportunity to once again showcase and share the SANDF’s technology and readiness with all South Africans.

It is a delight that is sure to be mirrored by showgoers. Last year, after a long absence from the Rand Show, the SANDF made a huge comeback at Nasrec. Its extensive outdoor exhibitions and displays proved to be a massive hit with families, so big in fact, that showgoers rated it the top highlight of the Rand Show 2011.

Visitors clambered into boats and tanks, tried their hand at firing missile launchers, and peered into helicopters, while the SANDF displays and simulations in the Rand Show arena offered non-stop excitement.

The SANDF is keeping hush-hush about exactly what will be on show at its new, larger area at the Rand Show 2012, but it’s safe to say that our men and women in uniform are sure to make as big a bang as they did last year.

The SANDF’s involvement adds to a growing list of confirmed highlights at this year’s show.

Joining the SANDF is Canada’s Flying Fools High Dive Show, a Rand Show exclusive, as well as bird and reptile shows with Snake Bite Jones in the Animal Kingdom, the ever-popular SA Chefs Theatre, circus performances, and an action-packed Kids Theatre, to name but a few.

It starts from Friday 6 to Monday 15 April 2012. Gates open each day at 9am and close at 6pm,
although the Show will remain open until 8pm.

Adults R80; Pensioners over 65-years; R40; Kids 12-16; R40; Kids 6 – 12 – R20; Under 6s free.
