Road accident claims lives again in Vereeniging

About four weeks ago,  a bus accident claimed 20 lives in Meyerton, Sedibeng District- resulting in 55 passengers and bus driver seriously injured.

A truck with one occupant and a bus transporting thirteen people collided head-on.

“We have learnt with regret about the ill-fated event and we wish to share our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of those who passed on in the appalling car collision,” commented IFP Caucus Leader in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Bonginkosi Dhlamini.

Mokonyane said it was concerning that this was a second major vehicle accident in the Sedibeng District in just a few weeks.

The Premier further requested the transport authorities to leave no stone unturned to establish the cause of the crash and reports of both accident be made public.

Road accident remains a deadly assassin of human life. We as the IFP believe all efforts should be made to educate and cultivate a proper attitude among drivers and pedestrians, while emphasizing the need for observing the rules of the road, and this might help tone down the regularity of road accidents and road mortality rate,” pointed out Dhlamini.
