Schools in Protea Glen receive school donation from SPARK Soweto, following its international recognition

SPARK Soweto hosted Principals from six schools in the Protea Glen community to hand over a donation of 1,000 school shoes.

This initiative is just one of many the school does to serve the community in and around Soweto.

In November 2023, SPARK Schools Soweto was named T4 Education’s 2023 World’s Best School in the “Community Collaboration” category.

The school was selected because it became a catalyst for change in its disadvantaged community, which was once symbolic of the struggle against apartheid.

The World’s Best School prize money was used to purchase the school shoes donated to Bonamelo Primary School, Faranani Primary School, Glen Ridge Primary 1 and 2, Tholimfundo Primary, Protea Glen Secondary School and Itemogele Primary School.

“SPARK Soweto’s 6th core value is Ubuntu. This principle is the guiding light in the school’s interaction with its community,” says Nyambeni Nthambeleni, SPARK Soweto Principal. “We are committed to engaging and empowering the community in the place our scholars call home.”
