Sibaya hotel rocks Umhlanga!

The Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom in the quaint Umhlanga (Durban) area perfectly fits like a glove the above description.

Boasting both the hotel and lodge, Sibaya has been described by those with penchant for finer things in life as ‘sought-after’ in the area which bustles with tranquility and majestic buildings owing to the King of Zulu’s panache.

According to Belinda Jelf, Marketing Manager at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment (Hotel & Lodge) whilst we bring a three-star facility we offer 4 to 5 service and quality Sun International standards are synonymous with both national and internationally.

“Surely, this shows the kind of market and corporate customers we target,” she said.

Sibaya, frequented by those with deep pockets and top end earners, played host to the party of wealthy Durban businessman Vivian Reddy, which had guests flying in from the stone-throw away King Shaka Airport.

Conversely, the lodge-which played to yours’ truly- has 118 en-suite rooms, huge conference set-up managed by the HLM, service provider at Sibaya both hotel and lodge, respectively.

Albeit, no exact figures were given on staff complement, Sibaya Casino has a productive CSI team working in allocating the budget evenly to the Education, Health & Welfare, Community Development fields, according to Jelf, following the question what role does the company play in fostering relationship with the local communities.

“Building and contributing to the communities closest to Sibaya Casino is of utmost importance to Sibaya,” she says.

During our stay, the friendly yet hospitable staff made sure our visit was on par with that of Kings and Queens, stru!

From guards to our ‘welcomers’ at the reception, humility and Ubuntu reigned.

With my room facing the Indian Ocean; complemented by typical coastal weather the weekend seemed shorter by a minute, regrettably…

Posed to Jelf, on the issue of dwindling numbers nationally and globally, she said they support the casino business with rooms in the lodge, and in midweek occupancies are bolstered by loyal customers.

“Basically, we’re managing because dwindling numbers is a global phenomenon,” she responded.

Umhlanga which is a 15m drive from the Dbn CBD- is reportedly an ideal position for the BRICS international guests, thanks to its tranquility and upward market set-up.

The two-day gathering BRICS ends today.

The superlative “The Zulu-inspired architecture melts into modern comforts, making this 3-star hotel a perfect blend of relaxation and inspiration” stands water, rightly so.
