‘Signature smile will be most missed’ says Hlompho Kekana as he remembers Thulani Thuswa

A happy soul and known for his signature smile, Thulani Thuswa died this past Sunday, in a car accident.

Thuswa, who was travelling alone, passed-on after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with blockades between Marlboro and Grayston close to Sandton in Johannesburg.

He worked at Kaizer Chiefs marketing department before joining Downs’ as a spokesperson, were he became popular with his media peers.

Thulani opened his own public relations, sponsorship and talent management agency, Tyler Masons Management, after leaving the 2020/21 league champs.

The agency has on its books Downs’ duo Denis Onyango and Hlompho Kekana‚ among many others.

Messages of condolences continue to stream in both locally and from Al Ahly manager, Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane, who worked with Thulani at Downs’.

Downs’ skipper and midfield extraordinaire Kekana, says the death of Thulani will be a void never to be filled.

“He was a brother, a giant and a businessman who was dedicated to his job. He was so reliable hence he got opportunity to open his own agency,” says Kekana, talking exclusively to this reporter.

He was nicknamed “Vladimir”, Kekana says, and was an entertainer and his signature smile will be most missed.

“Yes, we can’t imagine life without him. Dedicated to his job and family, he was also a very honest human-being, who helped a lot of well-known people in mzansi,” quipped Kekana, emotionally.

The last time I interacted with him was at the funeral service of security mogul Victor Sidambe last year, who was cruelly assassinated.
