Who is behind Brian Shivambu’s R4.5m repayment, after lying to the poor who invested their hard-earned money?

These are all serious questions Brian has to respond to, should he face a possible arrest for lying to the nation and VBS investors, amongst others.

According to investigate team at Daily Maverick, Brian, the brother of EFF deputy president Floyd, signed the contract in March last year, admitting that he received millions of rands for doing nothing.

This follows years’ of investigation by the Daily Maverick on what has become known as ‘VBS Heist’, which allegedly linked numerous municipalities, businesspeople and politicians – including EFF members.

Speaking to 702‘s Clement Manyathela, Pauli van Wyk, investigative journalist at Daily Maverick, explained why he signed the acknowledgement.

“We know from my investigations that the money was sent to the EFF, the party itself, to fund its fourth birthday bash in Umlazi [KZN]. It was sent to Floyd Sshivambu to fund all sorts of luxury clothing and parties – the same with Julius Malema… It was stolen money,” said van Wyk.

“He lied to all of us. When I questioned him about how he received the money, we spoke about R16 million in cash and around R4 million in loans… he lied about it and said he had a business relationship…”

For now it’s unknown how and who made the facilitation of the R4.5m repay back, but as for Shivambu he has to answer?

Now that the poor people of Limpopo (mostly) who invested their hard-earned money into the investment bank know the truth, the plot thickens for all who are involved, including some politicians and businesspeople, who might have thought they were off the hook.

SIU you know what to do… Amen!

Perhaps starting with now ‘closed’ SUD the popular eatery along the famous Vilakazi Street at Orlando, will be a good idea- just saying.
