Yes, you may ask isn’t about gambling and entertainment?
Ok, let me put you at ease. Last week one of the leading entertainment in the East Rand,
Carnival City played host to the opening of a trendy restaurant Bru’s- perched in the middle of the entertainment area- last Friday.
The launch saw guests, media, executives and hangers-on feasting on delicious food enough to cater for entire South African Team that went to the 2016 Rio Olympics and imbibing top notch brands you could ever think of, stru not Bru’s!
Bru’s according to Annemie Turk, Carnival City General Manager is what comedy is to the East Randers. “They believe in it”, as I found out out during my interaction with them, upon my arrival.
The sleek and upper class eatery is the proud home of Whackhead’s Comedy Club that will take place every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, also featuring artists and bands.
It can also be booked for private functions.
Although no initial investments were mentioned, my reliable sources confirmed the restaurant is worth millions, considering its exterior and interior décor, stylish seating and of course- the fascinating round bar, that kept guests asking for more.
Turk, who has a thick history within the hospitality industry(1991), agreed that in the past Carnival City had no major changes that would appeal to the people of the East Rand, hence she was approached not ‘convinced’ to join Carnival City.
“Such projects and others in the pipeline would help to entrench this entertainment center as the leading hub for family and kids,” she pointed out during intimate interview in her office.
According to her Bru’s is likened to comedy and was coined by the big boss Rob Collins -that means ‘bru or brother’ in simple terms.
“He was fascinated about the wording and he recommended to us that we should use it as our initial naming.
Having said that, expect comedy of all kinds, shapes and forms to keep you in stitches,” she waxed lyrically.
The eatery’s flyer simply sums it up it: Bru’s is a trendy restaurant and bar in Gauteng. Offering you great décor, mouth-watering food, trendy shooters and comedy that will have you coming back for more!
One can also choose from varied selection of hand-picked wines, signature cocktails, specialty milkshakes, and beers.
Cocktails are served in jam jars “Deadly Wrath”, “Gluttony”, and specialized martinis, “Blue Margarita”, “S’more Martini”, and “Caramel Apple Martini’, among others.
Complex Executive Chef, Rylan Ramsamy, oversees the Food offering of company owned restaurants at Carnival City.
“Success breeds success; thus meaning we make sure whatever we do is of high value hence all this excitement because it talks the walk with our target market,” says Turk, when asked what measures will be put in place to increase market-share, among others.
Carnival City is about family and adult gaming that’s what set us apart from our competitors, she said with a broad smile.
Oh yes, it must also be mentioned the waiters/waitresses work their hearts-out that means, they deserve a worthy tip, or kanjani?
As wee hours of the morning came knocking hard and forbidden waters taking its toll (pun absolutely intended), we retired to our guest rooms after an epic evening.
In the morning, a sumptuous breakfast was served with (pounding headache outplaying itself) before heading back home. Amen!
Bru’s is open from Monday – Thursday 12h00 – 23h00 & Friday & Saturday 12h00 – 02h00 & Sunday 12h00 – 22h30.
