Somizi off air following allegations of assault, abuse towards husband

The controversial social figure was fingered for having assaulted his partner and husband Mohale Motaung.

The Idols judge made headlines this past week, when a Sunday tabloid revealed that his estranged husband had accused him of being physically abusive.

Broken his ribs, loosened a tooth, run his car off the road, and threatened him with a knife, are some of the allegations levelled against ‘Som-Gaga’.

In the clip that has gone viral Motaung can be heard recounting the moments in which he claims Mhlongo was abusive towards him.

He also made mention of how Mhlongo blocked him from forming a friendship with the Fergusons and how Mhlongo’s estranged best friend, TT Mbha, allegedly ran interference when Motaung was on the verge of scoring an acting gig with the power couple.

Mohale- Mhlongo has instructed his lawyers to handle the matter.

“Mr Somizi Mhlongo has become aware of allegations allegedly made against him by his estranged husband, Mr Mohale Motaung, published in the Sunday World newspaper on 1 August 2021,” read part of a statement shared via social media and attributed to Mhlongo.

Following a serious backlash from the public, SABC announced they have given the Metro FM host permission to “take some time off work” in a media statement.

The public broadcaster further acknowledged having heard about the allegations levelled against Somizi Mhlongo, not only by his former husband but by other social media users.

Most of celebrities have also raised their concerns in the matter and supported Mohale.

Following such serious allegations divorce is imminent.

Its unclear if Somizi will be fired or return to air?
