Soweto Fashion Week draws international attention!

The annual Soweto Fashion Show makes a return.

Now entering its third edition, it takes place from the well-liked Soweto Theatre, Jabulani in Soweto. Soweto Hotel was the previous host.

The three-day affair romps off from May 28 to 31.

This year’s theme ‘Africa Unite’ fittingly attributes to the 20th Celebration of our Democracy in South Africa this year.

Close to 15 designers-emerging and established- will showcase auntumn and winter collections.

The SFW has also drawn international interest from Nigeria, Botswana and Zimbabwe, which goes to show Soweto has a rich heritage globally.

“I’m particularly excited about the upcoming SFW shows. 3 years down the line there has been a lot of growth from both a brand and designer perspective. Having been invited to showcase in Switzerland and Las Vegas last year, I know that there is only bigger and better things to come”, quipped Stephen Manzini, founder and director of Soweto Fashion Week.

Sheila Afari, PR spokesperson for the SFW, pointed out that the labels/designers names will be only released soon after they’ve confirmed the exact numbers of participants.

Tickets are on sale on at Computicket outlets from R30-R60.
