‘Sprinters’ journey cut short following the arrest of Louis Tshakoane

FORMER Kaizer Chiefs spin doctor Louis Tshakoane and Son Kgopotso arrested for defrauding investors millions.

The agile “Sprinter” as Louis was synonymous with fans, had been addressing mourners at the funeral of former Premier Soccer League champs, communication’s manager Alex “Goldfingers” Shakoane on Tuesday morning in Mamelodi, when heavy police pounced on him.

Its alleged he and Son Kgopotso (34) who was arrested earlier in the day at his Kempton Park home, swindled investors through an unregistered scheme known as ‘Undercover Millionaires’.

Tshakoane has been on the run with family for four-years and was reported to have skipped the country to Malawi with well-known fraudster Bushiri. It has been confirmed he also funded the church of Bushiri who is wanted in SA along with his wife.

Police first issued a warrant for his arrest for allegedly running a R100m ponzi scheme.

The father and son pair appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court today on charges of fraud, theft, money laundering and contravention of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, said Gauteng police spokesperson Col Katlego Mogale.

Tshakoane, 74, has been on the run since 2019 when police issued a warrant for his arrest together with his wife, Komane, 60, who the state accused of swindling investors through the son’s unregistered scheme known as ‘Undercover Millionaires’.

At some time, police claimed they could not find the trio even when they visited their Kempton Park home.

Kgopotso handed himself over in 2018 and was given R70,000 bail, but according to NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, he abandoned his case. A warrant was issued for his arrest but he could not be traced despite posting pictures on his social media globetrotting the world and living a lavish lifestyle.

At the funeral mourners included amongst others, Premier of Gauteng and football supporter Panyaza Lesufi and CAF boss Dr Patrice Motsepe.

“Goldfinger will not rest following this drama’, commented one supporter in passing at the funeral.
