‘The Big Apple’ is Black Coffee’s calling

FIRST South African artist in the garden.

Yes, the one and only globetrotter and Grammy award winner DJ Black Coffee will grace the famous Madison Square Garden, in New York (The Big Apple) on 7 October 2023.

The official send-off soiree took place at Altitude Beach, Fourways, on Thursday evening, were multitude of his fans came to be party to this ground-breaking occasion, made possible by SA’s favourite beer Castle Lite.

Preceding send-off party set, Black Coffee had a media session outlining the purpose of the Madison Square Garden (MSG) and what it means to be part of it.

After making a grand entrance, the relaxed but emotional BC said, being invited to grace one of the biggest entertainment shows in the world, is surreal.

“This is exciting times but at the same time, emotional since all what I’m doing reflects back to what I used to do dream about as a young boy, at a very young age, wanting to achieve things and all that,” he said.

“My story is written and God must guide me. I pray a lot because all of this is through Him and everyday, I thank the All Mighty God for being there for me and my family, guiding and let me do what I know best. This is my craft nothing else.”

So the MSG adds another cap in my life and career, quipped Nkosinathi Maphumulo, in his designer sunglasses, sneakers and a jacket.

The Drive hitmaker was supported on stage on the evening by the likes of  DJ Stopper, Uncle Partytime, Kitchen Mess, Thakzin, Murumba Pitch, and the incomparable Black Coffee himself, featuring Bucie, Shoba, Pansula, Ribatone & Msaki, Mondli Ngcobo and DJ QUE, 

“Castle Lite is thrilled to have been part of this historic celebration with Black Coffee. We have always been at the forefront of innovation and music, and this collaboration exemplifies our commitment to these ideals. Black Coffee’s set was mind-blowing, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft.

We are honoured to have played a role in bringing this unforgettable experience to life”, added Colleen Duvenage, Brand Director at Castle Lite, who was accompanied by her mother, also capturing some special moments.

At MSG Black Coffee will be in the company of his fellow countrymen Mondli Ngcobo, Bucie, Msaki, Pansula & Ribatone, Shoba, Major League DJs, and 12 Piece Orchestra, including other international stars, Monique Bingham, Portia Monique, etc.
