Yesterday, ululations and praise songs could be heard as far as Pilanesberg Game Reserve, when Chief Nyalala Pilane of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela, presided to unveil the mall to throngs of villagers and guests.
The Chief, earlier revealed that the decision to name the mall after the village, situated about 35km from Rustenburg, was to make people aware that “there is a vibrant place called Moruleng”.
“These are exciting times for us and the residents are also equally happy. What is even more exciting is that the mall will provide both temporary and full-time jobs for the people,” says Pilane.
Equally excited is the former North West Tourism boss Charles Ndabeni.
Ndabeni, Chief Director, Branding and Marketing in the Office of the Premier of North West, says the opening of Moruleng Mall in Rustenburg would strive to uplift socio-economic conditions of lives in the area.
“This is the biggest mall ever in SA to be constructed in the village,” says the gargantuan oak Ndabeni.
“These are exciting for our people and we thank Chief Pilane and his authority for investing time and resources in turning this dream into reality, he said.
