Vaccination Certificate: access to see Bafana in action for WC against Ethiopia

Bafana will be hosting Ethiopia at FNB Stadium next Tuesday.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has promised free entrance for vaccinated football fans.

Should it be approved there will be a condition: vaccination certificate must be produced at the gate!

As per the country’s adjusted Level 1 lockdown restrictions, only 2000 fans will be allowed at the 94 000-seater Calabash.

According to a source privy to the situation around the Bafana Bafana vs Ethiopia match, all the stakeholders met on Tuesday where the return of fans to the stadium for this particular encounter was rubber-stamped.

“We will see fans back at stadium as promised,” said a source.

“Tuesday’s meeting was fruitful but the only disappointment for the fans is that a maximum of 2000 vaccinated fans will be allowed at the venue for the Bafana Bafana vs Ethiopia game.”

SA top the Group G standings with four points from their opening two games of the qualifiers.

They visit Ethiopia this Saturday, 9 October 2021, in what will be their third match of the group stages with the return leg next Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.

The last time local soccer fans attended both Bafana-Bafana and DStv Premier Soccer League matches was in March 2020.

At the time of publishing SMSA, had not responded for a comment on the readiness of the stadium and how they would conduct the authenticity of the vaccination certificates.
