What was known as Nancefield hostel will soon change to accommodate everyone, as part of Social Housing Development

THE Acting Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements in the City of Johannesburg, Kenny Kunene, embarked on an oversight visit to the Nancefield Social Housing Development.

This inspection aims to evaluate the project’s readiness for occupancy. He was accompanied by the leadership team from JOSHCO.

The Nancefield Social Housing Development is situated in Klipspruit, Soweto, conveniently close to Maponya Mall, the Nike Stadium, and the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus.

The development will have 372 units with a total floor area of 23,432m² and will be serviced by 189 parking bays, including 7 paraplegic parking bays. The unit types are as follows:

  • 1-bedroom units: 64
  • 2-bedroom units: 304
  • Paraplegic units: 4

The building will be equipped with CCTV cameras and biometric access systems to ensure residents’ safety.
