OVER THE past 25 years, the Championship Boerewors competition has been won by South Africans from all walks of life, from housewives to butchery managers, and even by a 13-year-old primary school learner.
That goes to show the passion South Africans are with their home grown brands.
Since April 2017 -following the launch of this annual competition- overwhelming entrants were received to pick out the best recipe for your boerwors.
As a result, only three finalists Queen Mathebula from Malamulele & Moses Mathebula-Lenyeye, both from Limpopo and James Lebepe from Atteridgeville- Gauteng made it to the finals to be held September 13 at Langa Sport Complex- Cape Town.
The winner of the Champion Boerewors will walk away in a brand new Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 Double Cab Raised Body Raider; as well as the honour of having one’s recipe crowned and sold as #SAsNo1 at all Shoprite and Checkers nationwide.
According to Shoprite and Checkers, hundreds of boerie pioneers, connoisseurs and local legends battled it out to narrow the nationwide search down to the top 3. Now South Africans have the opportunity to vote for the country’s very best boerewors recipe.
To vote for your fav recipe provided by the three finalists, buy a limited-edition top 3 pack and follow the on-pack instructions to vote for your favourite recipe to become #SAsNo1 between Friday, 18 August and Friday, 8 September 2017.
By doing so, one lucky individual also stands the chance of winning a brand new Toyota Aygo.
Ja, so get voting.
