Bonang’s champagne takes over from French brand at this years’ SunMet

The sought after pilgrimage offers patrons fun, horse-racing and of course, fashion.

A little bird whispered in my ear that fashion cops will be on the look out for worst dressed couples considering this year’s theme.

But changes have been effected in that champagne brand G.H. Mumm is no longer part of the celebrations and it believes this is the right decision for the brand.

The French champagne broke the bank to bring down the Jamaican and now retired world sprinter Usain Bolt to the ‘Mother City’ as an ambassador.

Asserting the company’s stance Sibusiso Shangase -G.H. Mumm Senior Brand Manager noted that “our core goal in sponsoring the Sun Met was to bring G.H. Mumm’s love of bold and daring celebrations to Africa’s richest race day. After consistently delivering a balance of sporting action, high-end fashion and quality entertainment at the Sun Met Celebrated with G.H. Mumm, we are satisfied that the goal has been met and 2019 marks the end of our partnership with the event.”

“As we close our chapter with the Sun Met, we are proud of our involvement in keeping the spirit of a 136-year-old event alive.

Our period of partnership with Africa’s most prestigious race day has represented an achievement of success and G.H. Mumm wishes the Sun Met team further success in the future,” concludes Shangase.

It has been replaced by “Queen B” Bonang Matheba’s House of BNG MCC that has been appointed as the official celebration partner.

The 2020 Sun Met entertainment line-up will feature “Africa is not a Jungle” which showcases the finest South African talent including global superstar, DJ and record producer DJ Black Coffee, Themba Nkosi (DJ Euphonik) and Da Capo.

Award-winning SAMA Record of the Yearwinner Holly Rey will join the entertainment line-up along with choreographer and DJ, Courtnae Paul. HeartFM DJ’s Tyrone Paulsen, Codax and Vernon Carver will be on the decks throughout the day and during the after-party.
