JMCSA investments in SA grows following launch of new models

New entrant. The all new Changan brand was introduced to the SA market.

Thanks to JMCSA, I hopped along with my colleague to Muldersfrift, were the launch of their new Changan StarIII (not Shangaan) and Landwind auto were unveiled by the (Chinese) company.

Honestly speaking, the talk among invited motor press journos was the tranquility of the venue rather than the reason why we were there. Ahem…

After the opening speech by MD from JMCSA on the history and future projections on SA market-preceded by awards for retailers and franchisers- we were ushered to the brands parked adjacent the lodge.

In 2013 JMCSA took over the distribution of Chana in SA and diverted back to the original name of Changan. This year, the brand new Star III Series Changan, was the first to be inspected by guests.

With a better design, bigger and longer load bins, derivatives of Single and Double cabs, and now also a Minivan to choose from, they are looking to establish themselves as the number one supplier catering to the needs of small businesses.

Not only has the Changan design been improved for a bigger, better loading capacity, but other enhancements include powerful engine- 72 kw@r/min, 3 year/ 100 000 Km warranty and bigger tyres.

With a load bin of 2.75 m, the Single Cab is now the one tonner with the biggest load bin in its class.

A complete new edition – the Minivan Changan will cater for a broad amount of small business owners wanting to transport a load without exposing it to the elements of nature.

The Double Cab now allows for extra passengers, still able to carry a load comfortably with a bin sized 2.06m, also offering air condition and central locking system.

Then the focus turned to the latest Landwind Auto.

Since entering the SA market, Landwind manual has been well received and it’s by no accident the big bosses from China, decided to launch the automatic version.

It features fresh upgrade to already established manual 6speed 4x2version.

Performing at 250 Nm/ 2800 – 4400 rpm and an acceleration of 0-100 in under 13 seconds, its worth owning one.

Auto version of Landwind was also unveiled.

Not only does the auto -feature an 8 speed gearbox, but is packed with luxurious features and standard electric sunroof, leather seats, multi- functional steering wheel and AT cruise.

According to press information both the manual and auto Landwind comes with a standard 5 Year/ 100 000 Km service plan, and 3 Year/ 100 000 KM warranty, including 24 hour roadside assistance.

JMCSA also has the Carrying light commercial truck range, the powerful workhorse Boarding bakkie, and the luxury Vigus Double Cab.

These kinds of investments in SA bode well for the economy and international confidence will be gained.

Targeting SMMEs. This Van will be targeted for upcoming small scale businesses.
