Robbie Malinga back on his feet as he features at the Dbn July Jazz extravaganza

Back on his feet. (Right) Robbie ‘Nzimbi’ Malinga will give his first performance after sickness at the first Durban July Jazz extravaganza this weekend.

The veteran musician and producer had a battle with anemia that saw him booked and treated for his iron deficiency.

But all is well, and raring to go as he forms part of the first annual Jazz in July line-up scheduled for July 2 2017 at Juventus Field- Bontanic Gardens, Durban.

According to the organizers, the festival aims to deliver a supreme and sophisticated outdoor musical experience for jazz lovers, considering this will be a heart-wrenching, ‘long’ weekend of arduous Durban July activities.

The crème de la crème line-up features Amanda Black, Swazi born muso Sands (famous for Tigi) 14 year-old Lasandra (discovered by NaimaKay), Ringo, Ray Phiri, Joe Nina, Thandiswa Mazwai, Naima Kay and Zonke, Zandi Khumalo, Scelo Gowane, Mondli Ngcobo, DJ Kotin and the UKZN Jazz Emsemble.

‘Nzimbi’ as Robbie is known does not bend or (ayi-gobege) will be giving his first live performance after sickness.

Revelers are encouraged to bring along their camping chairs, umbrella’s and cooler boxes (free before 2pm, R100 thereafter)and hospitality marquees will be made available.

It begins from 11h00 until wee hours of the morning.
