And Mamelodi Sundowns new attacker “Villa” is already making friends at the club.
The 26-year-old can be seen posing in his new Sundowns gear next to Khama Billiat, who took to Instagram to welcome the Bafana Bafana star to the club.
Vilakazi reportedly signed a three-year contract with a two-year option to extend.
He was at the club’s headquarters on Sunday morning as Sundowns continued to prepare for Wednesday’s Caf Champions League match against Zamalek, and there was time to take pictures with his new teammates after the training session.
Asked what contributed to his decision to join Downs instead of Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates, the former Wits skipper said it was all about conquering the African Continent and Sundowns are on the verge of doing that and for the family.
“I’m a hard worker and as such, the decision was easy to make because Sundowns are a bunch of hardworking players. Secondly, I would personally like to conquer Africa and Downs are on the verge of writing that history. I wanna be part of that.
The decision was also influenced by my family who also wished me luck with my new employers.”
On the prospect of playing in Europe, the soft speaking “Villa” says the dream lives on.
“Its’ my wish to play abroad and Downs are aware of that, should the opportunity arise,” says the Soweto born, who also used his 2014/15 earnings to purchase a house for his Mom.
The deal is worth R5million and a swop of two Downs’ players to Wits namely Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele.
Also joining the 2016/17 league winners are Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento.
Meanwhile, rumour-mill has it that the on-song Billiat is also sought by Chinese and one top African soccer giant clubs, respectively.
The Brazilians tops the African Champs League group B with three points after beating Enyimba 2-1 at home and the hosts Zamalek are in second spot differentiated by a goal difference.
The return leg game is on July 27 at Lucas Moripe Stadium- Pretoria.
