This follows acquiring his Uefa A-Licence this week, according to confirmed reports.
The A-Licence is the second-highest coaching qualification in the world, after the Uefa Pro Licence.
The former Bafana striker (32 goals and 80 appearances) has been attending classes since 2014 in United Kingdom, is the third after Cape Town’s City Eric Tinkler and Bidvest Wits’ Gavin Hunt who only hold the A-Licences in SA.
In 2015 McCarthy, began his coaching career when he served as an assistant coach at Belgian side St Truiden. He left after just seven months when his head coach Chris O’Loughlin was axed.
