Seychelles tourism minister eyeing the UNWTO position!

Headed for greater heights. Former Seychelles minister of Tourism Alain St. Ange (bald head) is vying for the UNWTO top post.

This was the reaction from colleagues and board members at the Seychelles Tourism, following his resignation to challenge for an all-important Secretary General position at United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

In his support, the affable St. Ange also received backing from Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA), among others.

A letter of endorsement was forwarded from Sybille Cardon, the Chairperson of the Association to express their support and endorsement.

The decision to support St.Ange was taken at the executive board meeting of the association following a resolution taken at the meeting.

In their letter of endorsement Cardon says: “Alain St.Ange as Minister has been a good facilitator for the cause of tourism and that he remained an advocate for the public / private sector partnership that exists in the country.”

St.Ange faces stiff opposition from Georgia, Brazil, Korea and Zimbabwe candidates.

Currently, he’s in Madrid to present his case along with documents to formalize his candidature.

From South Africa, since we do not have a candidate we therefore, throw our weight behind you Mr Minister!
