Khanyi espouses maturity as host of Big Secret series

A special screening was held at DStv Offices in Randburg, as oohs and aahs reverberated inside the cinema’s auditorium.

The series is about South Africans revealing their biggest kept secrets to their families, some going to the extent of either breaking up or making it.

A jaw dropper was when a man (40), in first episode, revealed that he was molested as a child by a trusted family friend and was also confused about his sexuality‚ explaining that he liked men and women.

Interestingly, he has three children although it was not revealed who the mother was, to protect the identity of kids.

The guy called to thank me for helping him to reveal his big secret, says Khanyi, who was accompanied by his fiancé.

“I was taken aback by that, I must say. The guy just called to appreciate my efforts. It’s surreal.”

“I’m life’s best student. I’ve lived my life in the most honest way. I am one person who has evolved with time. When you are the biggest sinner people want to open up to you,” she told media unwaveringly, after the screening.

“I’ve become like Sis Dolly. I get messages all the time and stay in touch with some of the people who were on the show.”

Monde Twala, Vice President for BET Youth and Music and Viacom International Media Networks Africa, said the fact that Khanyi was chosen to present the reality was no mistake.

“Everyone knows her secrets, so why not use her to reveal other peoples’ best kept secrets”? he asked.

It’s a great chemistry, said Twala poignantly.

Well, if you think the first episode punches below the belt- wait for second one. It’s implausible.

The Big Secret series debuted on DStv channel 129 on Wednesday at 21:30.
