Affectionally known as Dr T or Sis T to many and staff at her Motheo Construction Company, has been hailed as a hero and took NO for an answer, especially in boardrooms, that unfortunately is still male prevalent.
At the time of publishing messages of condolences were streaming in from all corners of the country, following her untimely death.
An MK (Umkhonto weSizwe) soldier who trained for three years in southern Angola, a Doctor who turned into a very successful businesswoman, Dr T was celebrated by her peers at the memorial service held on Tuesday in Kempton Park.
Black Management Forum president Andile Nomlala hailed Ndlovu as a meticulous entrepreneur who, unlike many politically connected entrepreneurs, didn’t depend on black economic empowerment to enrich herself. Ndlovu, instead built her construction company Motheo from scratch through her blood, sweat and tears, he said. “She said there is no substitute for hard work and there is no success through a short cut,” said Nomlala.
Business executive Xolani Qubeka said it was difficult to mention Dr T, as she was affectionately known, in the past tense.
Businesswomen Judy Nokwedi and Dr Namane Magau also sent their messages of condolences to the family and hailed their own as a true leader, fighter, compassionate, caring and made time for everyone, irrespective of colour or age.
Family spokesperson and niece Mapaseka Mokwele (radio & tv personality) said they will remember her jovial spirit and signature smiles.
Ndlovu died in hospital on Saturday following a crash that claimed four lives. She was on her way to a funeral in Rustenburg, North West.
She will be laid to rest on Friday.
Meanwhile, the ANC has called for her to be afforded a special official provincial funeral.
The matter is still being discussed, nothing has been finalised. Permission must be sought from the presidency, only then can we confirm and provide details,” said premier David Makhura’s spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga.
