Newly promoted Swallows warns ‘hands off our coach’

This follows unconfirmed rumours that coach Brandon Truter could be leaving the club.

Instead Mogashoa reaffirmed the coach’s future by confirming his confidence to him and declared the championship-winning coach will continue to be in charge of the newly promoted side to the Premiership next season. “We are not accepting any CVs for the head coach position or the assistant positions,” he said.

The chairman also confirmed to that the R3m prize for the GladAfrica championship will be shared amongst the players and technical staff.

““Every single cent and‚ for the record‚ coach Truter is our PSL coach (for next season)‚” said the joyous Mogoasha in a tweet after the final whistle.

“They won it on the field under very difficult circumstances.”

A respect must also go to Swallows captain Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena, who hinted was written off by many a teams as he knocked on their doors for another chance.

Yes, ‘CheeseBoy’ has proved his detractors awfully wrong and to be appointed captain of the team was unheard of.

The Soweto giants secured automatic promotion to the elite league after clinching the National First Division (NFD) title with a 3-0 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on the final day of the season.

Swallows are back in the PSL for the first time since they were relegated to the NFD at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

‘Butcher Birds’ also had the likes of former Downs’ defender Vuyo Mere that added a lot of spice in the team and experience.

The (33) Diepkloof born Mokoena has sent praises to God, family, wife and the club for giving him the chance when odds were stacked against him.

Now the real deal begins for the historical team, firstly, they have to legitimise the Moroka name with FIFA; secondly sort out the sponsorship deal, and finally rally their fans back, although for now (due to Covid-19) no fans are allowed back at stadiums.

As for aspirant MEC for education in GP, Panyaza Lesufi (President at Swallows), an abundance of congratulations for believing in the team when all was dark and gloom!
