Catch Monique Bingham at Diamonds & Dorings, a carnival not to be missed!

The star studded show kicks off from April 19 to 20 at Langleg Resort, Kimberley. The venue has become the traditional host of the fest for the past 12 donkey years, thanks to the well-liked dam (popular for fishermen)and magnificent tourist attractions products on sight.

Yes, one cannot fathom to omit the internationally renowned ‘The Big Hole’ which is one of the cash-cows in the province and Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje, whom the City is named after was a South African intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translator and writer.

As we celebrate our country’s 20th Democracy this year (thanks to prolific figures such as Plaatjie) organisers of the fest ‘broke the bank’ to solicit creme de la creme of music exponents to grace this lip-smacking fete.

From music to comedy, from fashion to marathon and Golf Day, this is a bumper packed lineup.

For four days, here’s how it will unfold:

On April 17, the Comedy Show (including fashion show) to be hosted by one of the tallest, sassy and funniest comedians’ Loyiso Gola, features Tshepo Mogale, Ntosh Madlingos, Wayne Mackay and soulstress Lira. It goes down at Convention Center.

April 18, the DnD Marathon (for health junkies) races off from Mita Seperepere Convention Center from 6am. This has been categorized in 5km fun walk and 10km run, respectively.

And the reason we’re all headed to the ‘City that Sparkles’ is the music fest from April 19, were Langley Resort play hosts to potpourri of acts such as Black Motion, Vusi Mahlasela, Bongo Maffin, The Soil, The Muffins, Simphiwe Dana, Vusi Nova, Moneoa, Tshepo Tshola, will share the stage with locals such as Mbuli and the band, Rumours of War, Deekamp, Pixley Jazz Band and Neo & Friends.

On the same day, Golf will also tee-off from Kimberley Golf Club from 11am.

Then on Sunday 20 -Day 2 music exponents featuring Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, Zahara, Zonke, Mafikizolo, Khuli Chana, Caiphus “Katse” Semenya Mme Letta Mbuli, Uhuru, Monique Bingham (New York- famous for ‘Take me to my Love’), Ringo, Cultural Spear (favourites from Botswana), Luanga Choba, and local acts Lion Force, Ngwao ya Tshona, (Biggle Dimera, not sure about that rectify) and the DnD All Star Band, complete what will be a weekend to be forever etched in our minds!

Indeed, the DnD has breathed life into the entertainment calendar of Kimberley, although unaccounted for, economically it is estimated to generate revenue into the GDP of the Province in the region of R10m+ over four days, as a result of accommodation, transport, shopping, etc.

Another important element is the direct and indirect jobs to be created during the fest for the locals(human empowerment) by the City for its citizens.

Tickets are available from Computicket outlets from R200 per day or R350 for two days (music shows).

VIP tickets retail for R2000. Marquee packages are also available. For more info call Tsholo Wesi on 053-832-5162/5107, mobile: 083-288-0033. Email: tsholo@botlhalecom.co.za
