Dickies SA honours the late kwaito star, producer ‘Mjokes’

Born Emmanuel ‘Mjokes’ Matsane, the former Trompies and Kalawa Records producer, has been honoured by Dickies South Africa, with a mural that honours the inspirational life he led.

The mural is in partnership with South African artist Rasik Green (Mister Ekse) and will be located in Meadowlands, Soweto Highway, where the iconic ‘Mjokes’ was born.

This masterpiece can be expected to be there from the 15th of June until the end of July 2021.

“We would like to thank the family and band members for giving us this opportunity to pay our respects to a legend that paved the way for so many including us as a brand,” read a statement from Dickies SA.

Dickies, associated with kasie, is honoured to have been given the opportunity to pay homage to ‘Mjokes’ a legend and Trompies member.

This project is close to home for Dickies as Trompies, the iconic South African kwaito- pioneering group that played an integral role in shaping Dickies South Africa as a brand.

Dickies heritage is also heightened by its strong following and brand history the world over.
