DJ shot eight times in Dube- Soweto. Investigations on-going

SOUTH AFRICANS are still coming to terms with the death of young musician Sandile “DJ Citi Lyts” Mkhize’s untimely death.

Reports revealed early this morning (14 February 2022), that Citi was murdered by unknown assailants.

Shocking new details have since emerged about the senseless killing. It is now alleged that the hip-hop DJ was gunned down by four gunmen who approached him and his friends who were “hanging out together” in Dube, Soweto.

A source told TshisaLive that four armed men approached Citi and his friends and pointed their firearms at them. The source says that one of the four armed men then tried to reason with his friends who went on to shoot at Citi a number of times, wounding him fatally.

The source also added that the men arrived in a VW Polo – the same car they used to flee the scene after they killed the young musician.

“He got shot. A VW polo came and four-armed guys jumped out pointing guns at everyone.

“When they pointed the gun at Citi Lyts one of the friends tried calming the situation, saying ‘guys let’s not do this, what’s going on?’ Then shots were fired at Citi, in the stomach. When he fell everyone else ran away. As they were running shots were being fired.”

The family of 32-year-old Citi Lyts has pleaded with the public for privacy as they deal with the loss of their loved one. Especially since it wasn’t too long ago when they lost Citi’s older brother and fellow musician Linda “ProKid” Mkhize.

Meanwhile, police officials are searching high and low for the suspects and issued a statement regarding the killing earlier today:

Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed police had launched a manhunt for the suspects and asked for anyone with information to come forward.

“Police were called to a murder scene in Dube at about 2am and on arrival they found a 32-year-old man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was certified dead by paramedics.”
