The Boys & Girls Club in Soweto benefits from digital economy

SUPERSONIC- a leading internet provider in South Africa, has joined forces with The Boys & Girls Club in Soweto, in preparing learners for the digital and AI era.

It is for this reason Supersonic found it important that they invest in future leaders, future digital entrepreneurs and the youth that will be holding the forte driving ‘us’ into the next level of digital economy.

The pilot project was launched at Maraisburg, Soweto this week that will also benefit other branches namely Mofolo, Pimville, Alexandra, Betrams, Protea Glen and Vrededorp, under the auspices of The Boys & Girls Club.

The company will sponsor data for a year; and provide all other technology projects to these NGO across Jozi, and aid learners with resources to equip themselves for job opportunities.

Supersonic managing director, Megan Nicholas states” that investing and adding value in communities and the youth means, that they are empowering future leaders, future clients and potential resources, therefore investing in themselves”.

Supersonic has joined forces with The Boys & Girls Club in Soweto, a community upliftment initiative that has committed itself to empowering and enabling young people to reach their full potential.

Through comprehensive after school programs with a high-impact curriculum including academics, technology, life skills, sports and a Tech Club that is preparing the learners for the digital and AI era,” says Nicholas.

The initiative has been welcomed by parents and the community as firstly; it will draw kids away from the streets, and secondly provide accessible and fast internet, as loadshedding continues.

It is expected the project would reach other provinces in the near future, as digital transformation takes shape.
