THE FUBA II Zibi Royal Family together with the Zibi Royal Council have confirmed the burial service of the late Nkosi Madode’nkundla Langa-La-Sembo Zibi.
The Chief was confirmed no-more on April 8 2023 by the family, due to ill-health at homestead of Kwa-Khayakhulu, in Moses Kotane Municipality, North West province.
A Professor, he was the Principal Traditional Leader of the AmaHlubi nation both in the Eastern Cape and North West provinces, respectively.
In a media release the family confirmed that:” We would like to acknowledge and thank all those that have shown support to this pioneering leader, his family and the nation of AmaHlubi as a whole during his time of ill-health.
Your presence has been wholeheartedly felt and a driving force behind the faith and hope that we have been carrying with us throughout this trying time.
Nkosi Madode’nkundla Langa-La-Sembo Zibi has touched and impacted the lives of many around the country, SADC region and in the world through his principles of humanity, dignity, love, compassion, respect and humbleness which will endure and live in the hearts and minds of many for centuries to come,” read the statement.
It continued:” It is with these principles mentioned above in mind that we as the Fuba II Zibi Royal Family and Zibi Royal Council encourage all and sundry to continue his legacy of striving for a better life for all, in particular the marginalized, underprivileged and forgotten people of our society –those of whom he has dedicated his entire life to helping.
Although we understand and appreciate the person that he is and ultimately was in the lives of many; we humbly request that the Fuba II Royal Family and Zibi Royal Council be given the space and time to process and come to terms with his passing.”
The Fuba II Zibi Royal Family and the Zibi Royal Council confirmed the funeral service as follows: Throughout the next couple of days the traditional family will observe its customary rites in honour of Nkosi Madod’enkundla Langa-La-Sembo Zibi, followed by a funeral service that is scheduled to take place on Saturday 15th April 2023 at Kwa-Khayakhulu Village.
Time will be confirmed.
I was privileged for having interacted with the ‘father’ and heir to the clan Prof Zibi, during the amaHlubi annual ceremony in his village and through his academic records, learnt that he was very instrumental in the recognition of his clan and fought fearlessly for the return of the land, amongst others.
The Son, also an academic Lutho, continues to be hands-on in all matters related to the royal family and the royal council, respectively.
The family has confirmed Professor Lumkile Lalendle will handle all media queries on +2772 635 2824.
For any contributions or donations to the family please contact Mrs Gugulethu Mokoena on +2783 334 6296, and for those directed to the office and/or nation of AmaHlubi contact Miss Nteseng Molate on +2779 377 3968.
