Build-up to Sansui Summer Cup reaching fever pitch!

Activations are unfolding, gents and ladies are being reprimanded what not to wear and horses, are of course, enjoying the attention.

Date: November 29 Saturday

Venue:Turffontein Race Course

This year’s theme is ‘Hats Off’ and according to Barba Gaoganediwe, head of communications at Gauteng Tourism, they’re celebrating the tremendous courage, achievement and hard work of the people of our golden City Region.

“We say ‘Hats Off’ to you for being the energy that propels our city region to pole position. We say ‘Hats Off’ to all the role-players especially our township based enterprises and big business that continues to make us Africa’s biggest business, tourism and investment destination.”

As part of build-up to this premiere the event, the GeePee Lifestyle Picnic at Lilieslief Farm in Rivonia, Media Lifestyle Experience in the Vaal River-aboard the boat, and 30 key attractions as part of reasons for using major venues for these activations activities have been identified.

The popular sho’t left campaign seeks to encourage locals and those from the nearby provinces to visit signature collection products like the Cradle of Humankind, Maboneng Precient and the Joburg inner city experience through Joburg Red Bus, the various history and heritage sites like Apartheid Museum, Liliesleaf Farm, Freedom Park and the majestic Vaal River home to GeePee’s water sports enthusiasts.

During activations, billions of rands are being invested by local and international businesses in this province, one the reasons Johannesburg continues to be voted the leading tourist destination in Africa, according to latest poll.

“2014 marks the 4th year of our involvement as the provincial government with this prestigious event and signs are up indicating a tremendous improvement in terms of the increased attendance figures, change in the demographics and profile of those attending this day and night racing and fashion experience.

Working together with our partners Phumelela, MegaPro and the JD Group, we have seen this event growing in stature and occupying its rightful place amongst the top fashion and racing events in the country,” says Gaoganediwe.

He continued:”We are delighted that through the staging of the GAUTENG SANSUI Summer Cup in Turffontein we are able to create temporary and permanent jobs to our young people especially in the fields of hospitality, entertainment, fashion design, modelling, grooming and logistics management.

Similarly our tour operators, event organizers and accommodation establishments continue to rip the benefits of having Gauteng’s own consistent fashion and sporting lifestyle event on their shores. This is what we aimed to do with this platform, a true catalyst for economic development, an event that can enhance our destination profile and consolidate our standing as home of champions.”

The event has been premised around the likes of the Queen’s Royal Ascot in London, the Dubai World Cup and the Hong Kong Cup, which again reaffirms Joburg’s status as a vibrant, entertaining World Class African City and Mecca of sporting and musical events in Africa.

Cape Town and Durban, you’ve been warned!

For Gaoganediwe, Gauteng’s potential is immeasurable…
