The international travelling exhibition features life-size moving, roaring
animatronic dinosaurs. Due to the highly technical nature of the displays, setup of the ‘Days of the Dinosaurs’ will take 6 full days of 12 hour shifts to set up and requires the assistance of 25 riggers, scaffolders, technicians and support staff.
According to Edmund Beukes of Media24, who is co-ordinating the exhibition’s organisation, the assembly of the 55-ton (55 274 kg) exhibition began on Saturday 14 June in preparation for the public opening on 20 June.
“It’s not just about seeing life-size dinosaurs. The exhibition features 45 life-size dinosaurs and two skeletons. The exhibits have been designed to show people how Dinosaurs would have really lived and moved centuries ago in their natural habitats,” he says.
Beukes says the objective of the exhibition is that children and adults alike will walk away with a new admiration for these fascinating creatures that once roamed our planet.
“It’s far from the usual Don-facts. The information presented within the exhibition has been put together by some of the world’s best paleontologists’ and promises to hold a few interesting surprises for everyone.”
According to Beukes, there is also a 3D movie, a Dinosaur-themed ntertainment and food area and an entire interactive children’s play area available to visitors.
“There is so much excitement surrounding the arrival of this exhibition on our shores. Due to the popularity with school groups in the last week of the school term, we have already reached capacity for the mornings of the first week.
The show runs for a three week period so we would advise people to book to avoid disappointment,” he says.
The Exhibition will show at the Sandton International Convention Centre for 4 weeks, from June 20 to July 20. Tickets are available at Computicket.
