AmaKhosi ready to roc’ n roll as the PSL season resumes!

Is he the one? AmaKhosi unveiled their latest signing Gustavo Paez. So desperate are the Glamour Boys to go back to their winning streak, the striker will make his debut tonight.

Amakhosi announced on transfer deadline day that they had signed the Venezuelan striker on a two-and-a-half year deal.

Now word coming out of the Chiefs camp is that Páez is part of the 18-man squad to play Ea Lla Koto at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has also confirmed that Páez is available for selection for tonight’s game.

“Gustavo is available for selection. He has earned himself a place in the squad by good performances at the training ground,” Komphela told the club’s website.

Komphela is hoping that Amakhosi will continue their good run of form when they face Stars tonight.

“We have done all what we needed to do during the break to get the team ready.

“We went to the break with a draw and two wins in a row. We have been working hard during the January break. I think we are ready to win matches, starting tonight.

“We are aware of the changes in their setup, which makes them a bit of a closed book.

“They have signed new players and brought in a new coach in Serame Letsoaka. We will rely on our strengths and observe their plan as the game progresses. However, the intelligence that we have on them should be enough to win the match.”

Chiefs and Stars have met in 34 league matches since 1996. Amakhosi have 22 wins compared to Ea Lla Koto’s three, while nine matches have been drawn.

“We want to maintain our dominance over Stars. We beat them in the first round, and they surprised us in the Telkom Knockout, which makes this an interesting encounter for the supporters.”

Ed Note: Paez has new nickname “MaLeven” loosely translated Mr Eleven for having scored 11 goals in 100 matches. Whether it’s a good buy or another surplus remains to be seen from tonight.
