So, the masses of Limpopo are encouraged to come in large numbers and celebrate what this Amarula fruit fest is all about.
It takes place from March 9 to 10 in Phalaborwa, the host venue for the past years’. The fest dates were moved from original end of February to March.
Event organizer, Bruce Kgapane from Ziyaphenduka Promotions was roped in after reports that the fest was on the verge of being canned due to poor administration.
The annual Amarula Cultural Festival’s core objective is to preserve culture which the citizens of the province pride themselves with, increase tourism spend and visitors, and to celebrate Amarula fruit, amongst others.
It will encompass music, fashion, comedy, street parades, and cultural/calabash activities. WOW!
On the 9th a street parade and Amarula tasting will take place, followed by the music concert on 10th to be held at Impala Rugby Stadium, featuring Afro-pop, house and kwaito musicians.
The line-up boasts a surprise creme de la creme of Ringo, Big Nuz, Dr Malinga, Professor, DJ Beef, DJ Titty, DJ Star Nomi, DJ Themba and DJ Eddi Crook.
Locals will be in the form of respected Joe Shirimane, Malatjie, and Dr Malinga,
Although no names have been confirmed, various comedians will keep people on stitches with their jaw breaking stunts.
Speaking to Johannesburg based but Phalaborwa/Limpopo born masses, the pricing of the ticket could be of concern to locals, however, they also pointed out that this initiative should be supported as much as others in the country.
