And the controversial Kelly Khumalo has been given the honour to play Mabbrr on March 23 at Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown, starting from 2 onwards.
Hansa has imported Holographic Projection Technology to put deceased icon ‘Brenda Fassie’ back on the stage to perform.
According to the organizers, a team of audiovisual professionals have been working for six weeks to create a specially-produced video of an actress performing two of Mabrr’s most popular numbers.
The ten-minute video, featuring an actress with professionally applied make-up and dressed in a replica of Fassie’s sequined blue jumpsuit, will be projected onto a specially-built foil screen which has been imported from the United Kingdom.
The hologram will make it appear as though a life-size Brenda is performing, singing the famous tracks along with her son, Bongani Fassie.
“It has been a dream of mine to perform with my mother again,” Bongani said.
Khumalo will perform the 45 minute show alongside Bongani and The Soil.
Other artists who will be honoured with tribute performances include the late Lebo Mathosa, performed by Zaki Ibrahim, and Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, who will be honoured by Spoek Matambo.
“We are fortunate that Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, a living legend with some 50 years of musical accomplishment behind him, will also be performing at the Hansa Festival of Legends,” said Hansa General Manager Khensani Nobanda.
A special kwaito tribute will be performed by Arthur, Mdu, Thebe and Spikiri,
including many of their own hits. They will be joined by one of the biggest South African hip-hop acts, award-winning rapper Khuli Chana.
Big Nuz, Ganyani and other top acts feature on this mouthwatering line-up.
Tickets are available from Computicket outlets from R150.
