UPON REVIEWING the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro last year, I did mention the Chinese made will hog headlines for all right reasons.
Forward to 2022, the company unveiled its seven-seat market Tiggo 8 Pro recently, of which I did highlight in my article in 2021 as a precursor to the launch.
It comes in two specs- the Distinctive model priced at R496 900 and the Executive at R546 900.
According to Chery, South Africa is the first right-hand-drive country in the world to receive the Tiggo 8 Pro.
“In planning for the South African introduction of the Tiggo 8 Pro, we used the analogy of first-class travel. Once in first class, your every need is satisfied. There are no hidden costs, no surprise bills, and luxury is a given,” said the company
Both models are powered by a 1.6-litre TGDI turbopetrol engine that powers the front wheels through a seven-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox. The engine produces 145kW at 5500rpm and 290Nm between 2000 and 4400rpm.
As a driver, one can either choose between Standard, Eco and Sport driving modes, respectively.
Standard features across the range include leather seat upholstery, six-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, 10.25-inch infotainment system with eight-speaker Sony surround sound system, wireless charging and intelligent voice control. Safety kit includes six airbags, traction control and a 360-degree parking view system.
The Executive model adds upgraded leather upholstery with a diamond-stitched pattern and black and brown colour choices. The range-topper also gains four-way electric seat adjustment for the front passenger, separate climate control for the third row and a raft of advanced safety features, including Automatic Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring and Front Collision Warning.
According to the company it is available through a network of 50 dealers countrywide.
“We are welcoming each and every Chery owner to visit us and make contact. Not only will we be able to service their vehicles and honour any existing warranties, but we will show them the quantum leap in design, technology and safety that has since made Chery a global force and China’s largest vehicle exporter,” says Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager- Chery South Africa.
The SUV market is becoming competitive everyday; and we car-enthusiasts are loving it!
All models are sold with a five-year/60 000km service plan and five-year/150 000km warranty, as well as Chery’s 10-year/1-million-kilometre warranty, which only applies to the first owner.
Yes, there’s a ‘cherrie on top’.
