This was confirmed today by the organizers.
This is for the very first time Noah will host the awards following his appointment as the face of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”.
The South African follows in the footsteps of global stars Wyclef Jean, Eve, Marlon Wayans, Anthony Anderson and Trevor Nelson, who are previous hosts.
Following news of the appointment, he charismatically said:”I’m a huge fan of African music and achievement, and it’s going to be a massive pleasure celebrating them both at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 in my own home town of Johannesburg.”
Noah, will preside over the live 2-hour telecast at the awards ceremony that would feature African stars like Alikiba, Babes Woduma, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee and Yemi Alade, among others.
“Trevor Noah is an outstanding entertainer, and testament to the amazing talent that Africa has to offer the world. To have him host the MAMA, our annual celebration of Africa music, creativity and achievement, is a powerful and inspiring message.

Today, nominees list will be unveiled at a party in Braamfontein.

The awards are scheduled for October 22 at the TicketPro Dome, Northgate.
