Tshepo, who was a fringe player at Bucs, will rejoin his former coach Eric Tinkler.
“He’s a player I spent time with at Orlando Pirates. I know exactly what he’s worth and he’s a fantastic acquisition for us,” Tinkler was quoted by the club.
Club owner, John Comitis explained that they have been working hard behind the scenes to gather up more players with experience to round off the squad.
“We had lost out on Ngalo and Mzava, when we saw an opportunity to press and get Gumede. We believe we have a Top PSL player with experience in Gumede, we know that we can build our defence around him.”
Gumede, began his youth career at Arcadia Shepherds before joining the SuperSport United academy back in 2009.
Meanwhile, midfield star Sifiso Myeni, who was offloaded by Orlando Pirates, could team up with former boss Tinkler at the club, if talks are anything to go by.
According Phakaathi, source close to the player has revealed that City have made contact with Pirates and should the two clubs agree on a deal, the player will be moving to Cape Town to revive his career after Pirates placed him on the transfer list following a disappointing season.
“I heard that some teams have asked about him, but City are currently at the top (of the list) to land his signature,” said the source.
