Golden era. Gold Reef City boss Mike Page sharing a laugh, if not a joke with Mme Lilian Raseobi (not Dube anymore folks) at the launch last night.

With arch rival Sun International (Sun City) going for rejuvenation to the tune of R800m, Gold Reef City-one of world class entertainment complex in Jozi- has gone R630m refurbishment expansion through Tsogo Sun, one of leading hotels, gaming and entertainment companies in South Africa.

Clearly, this demonstrates investor confidence shown by companies following news that BMW will be investing billions in the country.

Among the additions to the property are several new and upgraded restaurants, including the stylish Back o’ the Moon, which has undergone a total revamp and offers accessible upmarket dining.

The property now also offers a Vigour & Verve restaurant, Spur Steak Ranch, Boston BBQ (family buffet restaurant), Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, The Raj Indian Restaurant, Ocean Basket, Vida e Café and Col Cacchio Pizzeria as well as a food court.

Yes, you can easily attest this is a battle of entertainments giants!

GRC is Africa’s greatest theme park that offers underground tours, gold pouring, historical exhibits, restaurants, amusement attractions, a Victorian hotel and over 30 heart-stopping adventure rides, making it one of South Africa’s national tourist treasures.

CE of Tsogo Sun Marcel von Aulock says this investment is in line with the group’s corporate strategy to invest in and expand its operations in South
Africa.

“We are committed to ensuring that our properties stay relevant, fresh and competitive in the leisure market. Added to this, the selections of offerings at our properties are vitally important components in ensuring great experiences for all our guests.”

Operations Director and Complex General Manager of Gold Reef City, Mike Page, says: “There is nowhere else in South Africa, if not the world, where one can experience a world-class Theme Park, the historical significance of the Apartheid Museum, enjoy the thrill of a casino, an opulent theatre, and the family-friendly entertainment value of movies, 10-pin bowling, a games arcade and a diverse selection of restaurants.”

To round of the evening that was blessed with much needed rain, Loyiso Bala and crew kept guests on their toes as they belted out some golden oldies, heard after years.
