OUR deepest condolences to the Mamelodi Sundowns football club, for they unearthed Jayden Adams, whom many came to know and celebrate, as a youngster from Stellenbosch.
To the family we say sorry, no words can describe what you’re going through as emotions and confusion continues- what led to him taking his own life?
The world continues to honour his memory at the current 2026 World Cup, for he represented his country with aplomb though Bafana Bafana did not qualify for the last 16.
But his indelible mark was felt and his magic on the field left some of the opponents with their pants down.
The midfield star was a reserved person, to those who knew him, and it came to the fore when it was confirmed his only living Gran had passed-on.
That’s when he became isolated without anyone noticing at the WC.
Juanito Adams, the midfield’s father broke the silence for the first time on he’s son’s passing on 11 July.
He was (25) with the world at his feet.
“As you all know, it was an untimely death. The family is struggling to process it,” said Juanito.
“It won’t be easy to carry on. People say it gets easier, but it doesn’t. You simply learn to live with it.”
He also thanked South Africans and the global football community for the support they have shown the family.
“We can see the love the world had for Jayden. It’s very overwhelming.”
Aqueelah Adendorf, Jayden’s lover shared an emotional tribute to his long-time partner: “There are no words to describe the pain I’m feeling,” she wrote on social media.
“Rest in peace, my love. Thank you for every memory, every laugh, every hug, and every moment we shared. You were not only the love of my life but also my greatest supporter and my best friend.”
Downs’ also sent messages of condolences to the family and will assist with burial proceedings.
Football clubs in the PSL also sent messages of comfort.
Following reports that he committed suicide- Police have opened a case of inquest after his body was recovered at a property in Schotsche Kloof, Cape Town on Saturday.
Rest well Jayden, you’ve gone way too soon-son!
