“SOLOMON”, the album by Cassper Nyovest is “best work yet” as he described it during the launch held recently.
The catalogue is the seventh studio album.
It boast 11 tracks and features the likes of Maglera Doe Boy and Nobantu Vilakazi, who both attended the launch at MonteCasino.
Addressing the packed audience Cass, said he’s a member of Christian Church hence the decision was mooted to shoot the album at the farm of his friend, with the title ‘Solomon’ and the production thereof.
“I’m so excited about this album, I know people have been waiting for it and this is where I’m the most vulnerable and myself. I’m in a different headspace and I hope it inspires people to find themselves, be more true to who they are and have fun.
I had a good time creating this work, I wasn’t fixated on selling platinum or gold but to express myself, celebrate, grieve, feel and just be myself and I think I have achieved it with this work,” commented the Mahikeng-born artist, who also confirmed ‘Solomon’ is named after his best friend Carpo.
‘The Pardon My Arrogance’ rapper also said the album speaks a lot about believing in God since there’s bewitching (boloi) that is taking place.
“This album is testament of me in a more reflective state of mind. Solomon is more than just music; it’s a spiritual and artistic expression that transcends genres and speaks to the soul,” he said, much too rousing applause from his hardcore fans.
On releasing a tribute song to AKA, his arch rival, he noted that he felt the pain when AKA passed-on and despite their differences, the late was important to him because he pushed him to do better in the competitive rap game.
“He was the reason I was always on top of my game. He made me sweat and kept me on my toes for more than ten-years. Now I have no-one to challenge me”, said Cass.
Mufasa- as Cass is known- was also taken to task for being a bad rapper, responded fiercely “I don’t know man and to be honest, I don’t care. I think paying attention to haters is unfair to people who actually love you wanna maybe share their opinions with you that build you cause you wasting that time you could’ve gave them by paying attention to (marete). I can rap, finish.”
Released last week Friday, the album feature tracks such as Bashimane,CandleLight, Chomie Lover Friend, Blow Your Lungs, 018, and others.
Cassper is currently touring with Nasty C for their African Throne tour.
